The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club (CJWC) invites all youth to participate in the Coronado Flower Show in Spreckels Park! This event is an exciting opportunity to engage the community and showcase the children's’ creativity in the Flower Show Youth Section.
All youth between Pre-K through 8th grade are invited to participate in the youth section categories described below. Whether it is making picture plates with seeds or beans, showing their green thumbs by growing plants, creating flower arrangements, or turning fresh fruits into animal artwork (Zoo's Whos), there is something for everyone!
All picture plates, flower arrangements, plants, and Zoo’s Whos will be displayed at the flower show and entered into a contest to win awards.
PRESCHOOL - KINDERGARTEN
PRE- JUNIOR GARDENER (Begin no later than February 20): Any plant or plants grown by exhibitor from seed, root, or bulb in a single container. Container-grown plants must have been in the possession of the youth exhibitor for a minimum of sixty (60) days. Combination plantings must have been grown together for at least three (3) weeks. Accessories permitted.
PRE-JUNIOR FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS: An arrangement of fresh and/or dried plant material in any container. Need not be homegrown. Accessories permitted.
PRE-JUNIOR ZOO’S WHO: A single animal or many animals made exclusively of fresh fruits and/or vegetables. Toothpicks/skewers used to join pieces should be concealed and not used for legs, arms, antennae, etc. Cloves, raisins, and dried beans may be used for eyes, nose, mouth etc. Entrants may work individually or as a team as long as all members of the team are the same grade level. Accessories permitted.
PICTURE PLATES (Most children will complete this at school): Any dried seeds and/or dried beans glued to a standard 9-inch plain white paper plate to make a picture of (A) an animal or plant scene; or (B) a freeform design. Materials must not have any added or artificial color (e.g., no dyed popcorn, writing, or paint). Entrant’s name must appear on the back of the plate only. Child may submit one entry for (A) and (B).
Junior Gardener: Grades 1 - 5
JUNIOR GROWING PLANTS (Begin no later than February 20): Any plant or plants in single containers that have been in the exclusive possession and care of the exhibitor for at least two months prior to the flower show. Accessories permitted.
ZOO’S WHO: A single animal or many animals made exclusively of fresh fruits and/or vegetables. Exhibits will be submitted to the Youth Section tent at Speckels Park on April 19, 20
Register entries in the Youth Section on Friday, from 4 to 6 pm or Saturday, from 7 to 9:30 am. Additional and nonconforming entries may be displayed on
the exhibition table in the Youth Section.

Can I submit multiple exhibits?
Yes, exhibitors may submit one entry for each category in their age group
Are there fees to enter the Flower Show Youth Section?
No fees to register entries or participate!
When can I pick up my exhibit?
Award presentation at 3 pm Sunday, April 21st. Please pick-up entries and awards between 4 pm - 4:30pm on Sunday. Entries/ Awards must be left on display until 3:45pm on Sunday. Entries not picked up by 4:30pm on Sunday will be discarded.
How do I register my exhibit?
Register entries in the Youth Section on Friday, from 4 to 6 pm or Saturday, from 7 to 9:30 am. Additional and nonconforming entries may be displayed on the exhibition table in the Youth Section.
