Welcome to the 2016-2017 CJWC Season!

Installation of the 2016-2017 Executive Board

I know that most people do not need me to tell them this fact, but Coronado is a truly special place. As Islanders we are lucky to share this rock with our small family of 30,000 people. We have grown accustomed to spending our day-to-day lives with many familiar faces; we break bread together at our favorite restaurants, visit on Sundays at church with the people we love, and bump into our neighbors at the grocery store on a regular basis. The spirit of Coronado is defined by its close-knit community. Many who live here are dedicated to giving their time and effort to extend the well-being of our Island. The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club does just that: we unite together to enhance this feeling of community, and I cannot wait to see what great things we can do together in the coming year.

As we begin the 57th season of the CJWC, I wanted to take the time to welcome back all of our wonderful members! This past season brought together many new faces alongside more familiar ones. We have created such a great energy at our meetings and events, and I am looking forward to the ideas and possibilities that are in store for us. I am honored to take on the role of President this year, and hope to continue the legacy of bringing enrichment, change, and help to those in need.

We will kick off our season with the upcoming Progressive dinner on June 25, 2016. The planning is well underway for our "Superhero" themed night, and I am looking forward to seeing us assemble on our bikes as we make our way throughout Coronado. Our next event will be the Coronado Promenade Concert in the Park on Sunday, August 14 at 6:00 p.m. The band, The Mighty Untouchables, will be playing and hopefully everyone can make it to Spreckles with their chairs and blankets in tow. As the summer comes to an end, Michelle Munns, our Membership chair, will be inviting both current and prospective members to our our New Member Social on Tuesday, August 30. We begin our general meetings in September and can provide more information closer to the end of summer. Our main fundraiser of the year, the Taste of Coronado, will be on Wednesday October 12 this year, so take the time now to pencil that into your calendars.

I hope everyone has a fantastic summer and is able to enjoy all that our little slice of paradise is able to offer. While I hope that our new season is able to bring positive changes that broaden our reach, I feel that we are lucky to be a part of a club that is esteemed in traditions that benefit and help shape our community.
